DJ Mehdi was a French DJ, producer, and key figure bridging hip-hop and electronic music. Raised in Hauts-de-Seine, he started in the rap group Ideal J in the early ’90s before producing for artists like MC Solaar and 113.

In the 2000s, he expanded into electronic music, blending genres with his Espionnage project and debut album (The Story Of) Espion. A long-time friend of Pedro Winter, he joined Ed Banger Records in 2003, contributing to early releases including Justice.

His track I Am Somebody and album Lucky Boy (2006) became underground classics, showcasing his unique mix of hip-hop grooves and club energy.

DJ Mehdi remains a defining and beloved figure of the Ed Banger legacy.
